Chalkboard?

This is one of my favorite pages (so far), but the chalkboard is mystifying to me. Here’s what I’ve figured out.

If you change each letter according to the number to the right (For example, six letters after A is G), you’ll spell the word “girth,” but what does that have to do with anything?

Look at the chalkboard. Your birth has something to do the 12 letters. Once you figure out what they symbolize, figure out what the circled ones have in common

The word is GIRTH, not birth, and even if it were birth, that’s a pretty tenuous connection to a clue that doesn’t need it. I think it’s a lot simpler than that:

GIRTH is an anagram of RIGHT. So pick the door on the right.
