Following and solving the rooms in this order will give you the shortest path to the final room.  If you look at the bottom of the text page, each section of text has one word that is in plain English. This lets you know you are on the right path, as it spells a complete sentence. The entire puzzle mirrors Dante’s Divine Comedy. The shortest path is a total of 25 rooms, each representing the 9 Circles of Hell, 7 Terraces of Purgatory, and 9 Spheres of Heaven, ultimately leading you to Empyrean beyond the portal. The items can easily be found by following along with the sins assigned to each circle, terrace, or sphere in accordance with the pillars in the final room.

The secret sentence and shortest path is as follows, with the hidden 5 items in parenthesis:

thanks for the help! it took me two extra steps to get from 36 to 44 though, I still don’t see it.

I was able to match up the clues and find artifacts for Venus (room 36), gluttony (26), and pride (17) in the appropriate rooms.

treachery/helmet is in the 7th room on the path (room 2), which should be violence?

room 14 is the only one left of the clues but I don’t see how it matches violence or the hand artifact

room 8 has a hand in it but that room represents anger

can anyone explain it to me please!

Hello, for those who are interested I have worked out the correct path (with all the other options) in a flow diagram. Only click on “spoiler” if you have already found the correct path!

The path starts at the top at 1 (first page) and ends via the correct green path at page 42. Between the pages you can see the different options you have (indicated by the arrows). The two red marked pages are dead ends. The other pages are colored gray.

I’ve done my best to make this, but I can’t promise if this is 100% correct. As an example: from page 30, I think you should also be able to go to 31 and 38 (instead of the question mark in the book) because these numbers satisfy the sum written out where the result is always 3.
